Crew for a day at Fintech UnBundled in Prague

On 12 May 2026 I spent a day in Prague working Fintech UnBundled as crew. I was there as a volunteer with Fyltr, not as a guest with a ticket, so I saw the event from the side where the work happens, which honestly I think is the better side.

UnBundled was the flagship day of Fintech Week CEE 2026. The whole week ran 8 to 15 May and it was the first edition, four flagship events across one week, with Crypto & Banking the day before and Love + roboti the day after. The line for the day was "founders, builders, and the work behind the work", which fit, because most of what happened on stage was about the messy parts and not the launch posts.

Crew, Not Guest

I got there in the morning while the room was still empty. There is something about a conference room before an event that I like a lot more than the event itself. Then you put the badge on and the doors open and it goes fast for the rest of the day.

The paper crew badge is a small thing but it changes the day. You are not walking around deciding which talk to sit in, you are the person people ask where the coffee is or where the roundtable room is, and you end up talking to far more people than you would as an attendee.

What The Day Was

The main stage ran five blocks, and the names give a decent idea of the tone: CTRL+ALT+FINANCE (reboot required), NEW MONEY, NEW RAILS (laying track where there was none), HUMAN x MACHINE (automation is easy, trust is hard), MONEY x FRONTIERS (capital, borders, and the edges of what is possible), and FOUNDERS' SCARS (earned in public). Two invitation-only things ran in parallel, a regulatory roundtable and a VC and founders session. At one point there was a screen in the hallway with the VC pitch sessions on it, which was the part of the day with the most nervous people in one corridor.

The lineup had people like Georg Hauer (ex N26), Dann Bibas (ex Wise) and Will Orde from Passion Capital, and the partners on the wall were KB, Mastercard, Visa, FINREG Partners, The FinTechers, BD Partners and KB Smart Solutions. For a first edition in Prague that is a serious room.

Why It Mattered To Me

I work on a crypto payment gateway, so NEW MONEY, NEW RAILS was the block I cared about most. When you spend your days on webhooks, quotes, settlement and the reconciliation nobody puts on a slide, it is strange and also nice to hear founders describe the exact same problems in one sentence and watch a room nod like it is simple. It is not simple. FOUNDERS' SCARS was the honest version of that.

The other thing I did not expect: most of the value was in the hallway. Not in a networking way, more that as crew you talk to speakers before they go on and after they come off, and people are a lot more real then.

Final Thoughts

One day, no ticket, and I got more out of it than I would have sitting in the audience. If you are a student or early in fintech and you are wondering how to get into a room like this, volunteering is the cheat code. Nobody minds, and everybody talks to you.

The crew. You are not supposed to stand out, you are supposed to make the day run.
